Oren Gross Thaler
Oren Gross-Thaler was born in 1997 in Tel Aviv, Israel. At the age of ten, he started to study classical saxophones under the guidance of Gan Lev and began his conducting studies with George Pehlivanian at the age of fifteen.
At the age of seventeen, he became a student and an assistant of the Israeli conductor and composer Noam Sheriff. In addition, he studied Music and Philosophy at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music at Tel-Aviv University. He also specialized in Musical Theory under the guidance of Prof. Yitzhak Sadai.
In 2017 as he was only twenty, he was selected as a fellow conductor at the Aspen Music Festival, where he received advanced training from Robert Spano and other conductors.
In 2018 Oren Gross-Thaler was chosen by Noam Sheriff to conduct the world premiere of his musical piece ‘Lenny’, which was written in honor of Leonard Bernstein’s 100th birth centennial. The concert was performed by the Regensburg Philharmonic Orchestra among other compositions of Bernstein in a subscriber's concert. After the success of the concert, Gross-Thaler was chosen by Bernard Haitink to participate in his conducting masterclass at the Lucerne Festival.
In 2022 he completed the Advanced Professional Training for Conductors at the University of the Arts Berlin. He also participated in the Tanglewood Music Festival Conducting Seminar.
During his career, Oren Gross-Thaler conducted the Magdeburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Neubrandenburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Regensburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Israel Symphony Orchestra, Israel Sinfonietta Beer-Sheva, Israel Chamber Orchestra, the Raanana Symphonette and others.
In addition, Gross-Thaler is the Music Director of the ‘Bnei HaKibbutzim’ Orchestra, a youth orchestra in Israel, built by the Kibbutz community.
